New adventures - the first couple weeks.

A week in Barrow was fantastic.
I went for a long walk on the beach last night. It was awesome. I will try to get you some pictures. Tonight we are taking a tour of Barrow.

This has been a good day. I'm still working but had time to check my mail. We are going to the store tonight, one more day of workshops and we go home on Saturday morning. I met the principal, and am impressed. People are very supportive and helpful here. They really seem to look out for each other. Probably out of necessity. We had a great tour of the area last night. Saw some great birds and beautiful sights of the Artic Ocean. We went as far north as you can drive in a vehicle. The Artic was on one side and the Beaufort sea on the other.

Back in Atqasuk
I must remind myself of where I am. I won't be able to hook my computer up to internet for a few weeks from what I am told. I got my pictures downloaded into it now. It will be nice to have a phone and TV and internet, but it all seems to take while. Planes come in when they come in. Certain people have radios so that someone can meet the plane. We were 5 hours late leaving Barrow,due to fog in Atqasuk. They finally chartered a small six seater for two of us and we got out at about 2 PM. We were supposed to leave at 9AM. It was a nice smooth flight. I like the small planes This one actually had leg room. I went to Post Office today, which is next door to my house. They didn't have any large envelopes. Something that I'll need to get somewhere else. I am living in a Duplex and now the other side is occupied. Housing is nice. Did I tell you that I have a stacked washer and dryer. I also have a deep freeze, but no meat to store. Perhaps I'll go shoot a caribou, or better yet get someone to shoot one for me. My classroom is pleasant with a terrific view of the tundra and the Meade River. I wish I could get pictures to you please be patient.

I love my room at school. I have a beautiful of the river and tundra. I now have plants and a fish tank. There is a beautiful Yamaha piano here at the school that no one plays. Perhaps I can have it in my room. They are getting me a microwave for my apartment. I now have a DVD and VCR. No TV yet.

My first day was great. The kids are really cute and very nice. Of course that was only the first day.
